A Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) is a process for determining the impact(s) of a new program (or the modification of an existing program) on an individual's privacy and subsequently for developing ways to mitigate or avoid any adverse effects. The PIA allows organizational stakeholders to effectively communicate privacy risk exposure to senior management, resulting in more fully informed policy, program design and operational decisions.
Whether you are looking for the new Core PIA (the new format made available by the Treasury Board Secretariat in April 2010) or a more intensive program review using traditional privacy impact assessment models, Cistel has a team of experienced professionals that will assess your program / service against the requirements of the Privacy Act (or the provincial / municipal legislations) as well as the policy instruments in force via Treasury Board.
